Information about Google's Adsense program

Adsense Introduction

Google AdSense is a way for webmasters of all sizes to display relevant, text-based Google AdWords ads on their web sites and earn advertising revenue. Since it's launch in 2003, Google AdSense has had a big impact on web site marketing. Google provides you with AdSense HTML code to place on your site's pages, then Google takes care of the rest by using their backend to deliver relevant AdWords ads to your pages. With Google's diversified advertiser base, they have ads for all categories of sites and content, no matter how broad or specific. Google uses a bot to read the content of your pages before it places Adsense on them. It considers different factors, such as: keyword analysis, word frequency, font size, and the number of links on the web. Based on this they know what a page is about, and can match up releveant Adsense to each of your pages. AdSense automatically displays the text that will most likely generate the highest profits.

Adsense advantage

Google Adsense has state-of-the-art technology you can take advantage of it. Their program is very easy to administer because there is just a simple cut and paste javascript code needed to insert into your page. Because Google acts as the broker and does all the backend work for you, you have no advertiser relationships to maintain or other work to do. And because Google is such a large reputable company you don't have to worry about not getting paid. You can also customize the appearance of the ads on your site to match your design. Their flexible reporting tools allow you to create customized reports and let you group your pages in any way you want so you can view your results by URL, domain, ad type, category and more to learn where what is really driving your earnings. You can block competitive ads and choose your own default ads in the unlikely event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads on your page.

Using Adsense

Place Adsense on pages that predominately contain text because only text is used to determine a page's context. If your site uses frames, make sure to place the Adsense in the frame where you content is. Don't put adsense on pages that are protected - i.e. pages that require a login or are protected in any way. It is best to place Adsense on pages that don't change often.

You can use filters keep out inappropriate and competitive ads.

- Competitive Filter - Enables you to filter out specific competitors or specific advertisers.
- Contextual Filter - Eliminate delivery of ads that would be inappropriate to serve on pages.
- Editorial Review - All Google ads are reviewed and approved before being served on your pages.
